SHOO SHOO BABY CASE STUDIES

The French Attaché’s Ball – The Dorchester Hotel, LondonShoo Shoo Baby were asked to perform an after dinner cabaret for the French Attaché’s Ball in 2006 and then again in 2007 due to popular demand. The client wanted something that would appeal to an international audience of dignitaries whilst keeping up the energy during a long night of celebrating. Shoo Shoo Baby performed for exactly 17 minutes, which is an optimum length for this sort of occasion, where the guests have been sitting for a long time. Announced by the master of ceremonies, they made their entrance singing Get Happy to the music of their live band. Next came an amusing arrangement of Minnie The Moocher, Naughty Lola, My Heart Belongs to Daddy, Love For Sale & The Lady is a Tramp where they left the stage to sing and mingle around the tables looking for their perfect ‘Daddy’, much to the amusement of the other guests. For a change of pace, the Shoo Shoos performed a stunning rendition of La Vie En Rose and Falling in Love Again with a costume change segueing into All That Jazz, always a favourite with the audience. The girls finished with a comic version of the show classic New York New York sung in four languages.

"Many thanks for your brilliant performance at our ball "
Colonel Philippe Guidi, Air Attache, French Ministry of Defence

The Human Resources Summit – Bar Jeder Vernunft, Berlin

The Managing Director of Summit Events, Sue Trousdale, originally saw Shoo Shoo Baby performing at a private party in Devon and was immediately smitten. She was looking for some cabaret to entertain her clients on the last night of their three-day summit in Berlin. For previous summits she had used the Vienna Boys Choir and international opera stars, but this time she wanted something really original. She commissioned Shoo Shoo Baby to create a 45min cabaret with a distinctly German flavour in their signature style (good music, comedy and fun) for her British audience (a mixture of HR consultants and heads of HR at firms such as HSBC, Royal Mail & BMW). Over several months, Shoo Shoo Baby created From Berlin to Broadway, which was such a success that they were invited back to perform it again the following year. Their use of original 30s songs and numbers from the musical ‘Cabaret’ created just the right atmosphere for an unforgettable night out in Berlin’s famous Spiegel Tent, Bar Jeder Vernunft.

“You planned the show to perfection….thank you so very much”
Sue Trousdale, Managing Director Summit Events

Christmas Party for Channel 4 News – 100 Club, London

A member of the Channel 4 News team had seen Shoo Shoo Baby performing at Pizza on The Park and thought that they would be the perfect entertainment for their Christmas Party. As the guests arrived, Shoo Shoo Baby serenaded them with Christmas Songs such as Santa Baby and Jingle Bells and upbeat classics like 42nd Street and Tico Tico, all performed to the sound of their 1940s big band backing tracks. They performed two half hour sets at the beginning of the evening, using a quick break to change from their charming ‘White Christmas’ outfits into their hilarious Carmen Miranda costumes, complete with fruity parrot headdresses. They always perform Meet & Mingle early on in the evening; it acts as a talking point and helps to inject some energy into the first hour or so of the party, which can often be a bit awkward before the champagne starts flowing!

"Thank you so much... you were such a hit! We have had lots of great feedback"
Fiona Railton, Press & Publicity Manager, Channel 4 News
International Visual Communications Association Awards - Grosvenor House, London

It is difficult to keep your guests entertained at an awards ceremony, there is so much to get through! Shoo Shoo Baby’s advice is to break up the awards with short bursts of entertainment so that the time flies by! The IVCA awards were presented by Jeremy Vine to an audience of 900, including Moira Stewart and other communications luminaries. The theme was the 1940s. Donning their 40s wigs and ‘Sweetie’ costumes, the Shoo Shoos performed in style with big band The Grahamaphones. After the main course the scene was set: searchlights scoured the skies as Shoo Shoo Baby entered to the sound of air raid sirens. As they reached the stage, the 14 piece orchestra struck up with Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy wowing the flagging guests. This was followed by a sultry rendition of Don’t Sit Under The Apple Tree combining Andrews Sisters-style harmonies, dance routines and interaction with the audience. Seven minutes of pure entertainment: just the right length for this sort of event. Keep it short and high impact!

"Shoo Shoo arranged an entertainment at a function for around a hundred people that we organised on a boat on the Thames. They were extremely responsive to the time and venue constraints, and worked with us to come up with a suitable programme.  The resulting show was perfectly judged, and greatly enjoyed by all. They involved the audience whilst always staying on the right side of the line and proved to be a central part of a very successful evening. Highly recommended!"  Mr D Von Simson – London
